Wega Mining was established out of our founders‘ belief in the Gold supercycle.

Increased wealth in newly industrialised Asian states, declining confidence in the greenback, and reduced output from the giant mines of the past, are the factors behind what we see as a growing deficit in the gold market for many years to come.

During 2008, two mines financed by Wega Mining will come into production. In British Columbia, Canada, our 60% owned subsidiary Merit Mining is currently developing the Greenwood Gold Project, an underground mine with expected production of 50,000 Au equivalent ounces per year. In Burkina Faso, West Africa, Goldbelt Resources is ramping up the Inata Gold Project, an open pit / CIL facility with average production of more than 130,000 ounces of gold per year. Wega Mining acquired Goldbelt Resources in December 2007.

We employ an experienced team of exploration geologists in some of the world‘ s most promising gold resource regions: West Africa, Ecuador and Romania. In addition, we explore for copper, zinc and tungsten in Portugal and Norway.
